Do you teach English in a mainstream university course?
Just because our students speak English clearly in basic interpersonal communication, we may think that their success in listening, speaking, reading, and writing academic activities is also necessary for cognitive English learning. We often cannot distinguish between basic interpersonal communication skills and cognitive language ability (CALP), so our students may find it difficult to learn from us.Some English learners' teachers must master the grammatical structure and teaching skills of English in order to initiate and promote language acquisition. This is what the ESL teacher did. However, once these students have reached pre-university or university courses, teachers must also be prepared to pass the steps of the academic writing process.
