Specialized in Consumer and Competition Law, Stéphanie Pelet-Serra worked as Legal Advisor within the European Commission (Directorate General Health & Consumer Protection and Directorate General Justice), since the very beginning of her career in 1997. Initially co-responsible of the negotiations for the Directive on Sale of Consumer Goods and associated guarantees, she was then member of the European Contract Law team in charge of the proposal for a Regulation on a Common European Sale Law.
These experiences have enabled her to understand thoroughly the European legislative process, the functioning of European institutions and to build a strong professional network in this environment.
As a lawyer in well known French law firms in Brussels, she has strengthened her expertise in other areas of law, such as Product liability, standardization, European food law and International Private Law, Since 2012, she also develops an expertise in European Regulatory Wine law.
Finally, within the context of an expatriation in Beijing (China), she worked in the Legal Department of the company Pernod-Ricard China, in the areas of anti-couterfeiting and trademark laws.
Stéphanie graduated in private law from the University of Montpellier (France) and is a Doctor in Law (Comparative analyze of EU, French and English sales law). She contributed several times in the Revue européenne de droit de la consommation and, during five years, in the European Contract Law Review. She is a member of the network TransEuropeExpert and an independant expert next to Directorate General Justice of the European Commission.
